Universal Works Bakers Jacket - Black Twill
Pickup currently not available
Chore jacket in black cotton twill, regular fit, five buttons. The Bakers has been in every Universal Works collection since the brand started, which is either a sign it stopped working or a sign it never needed to. The latter, clearly. Named after founder David Keyte's dad, who wore a simple coverall every day to work in a bakery. The jacket took that starting point and added a bit of shape: seams that give it structure without stiffening it, a diagonal buttonhole on the button stand that catches the eye without announcing itself, and pockets that are genuinely useful rather than decorative.
The fabric is a 3:1 cotton twill, woven with a diagonal construction that gives it more body and durability than a plain weave at the same weight. Midweight enough to layer over a shirt or light knit, light enough to wear most of the year. Made in India by a small factory Universal Works has worked with since the beginning.
