Ecru heavyweight canvas chore jacket, regular fit, corduroy collar, four patch pockets, split centre front placket. The Crowell takes its name and shape from the standard-issue chore coat the Boston railway company issued to its workers in the early 20th century. The canvas is 100% cotton, garment washed before it ships so the fabric arrives with a soft, slightly broken-in handle rather than the stiffness of raw canvas. The brown corduroy collar sits in contrast against the ecru ground, a detail carried across from the original archive pieces.
The split centre front is the quieter detail: a small structural choice that gives the jacket its own identity without changing the silhouette. Built to be worn often.
